Recently, I had the privilege of capturing the incredible production of Legally Blonde at Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline, a show brought to life by Limelight Academy. The energy, focus, and professionalism of the cast—and the flawless stage lighting—made it an unforgettable experience for me as a photographer.
Performing arts photography isn’t just about taking pictures; it’s about capturing the moment’s emotion, movement, and atmosphere. This particular show was far from a typical dress rehearsal — the cast was brilliant, executing their routines with precision and passion that truly showcased their talent.
One of the aspects I love about my work is the opportunity to connect with talented performers I’ve previously photographed or even perform alongside in local productions. It’s a wonderful community here in Fife, and documenting their journeys is a true pleasure.
To support the theatre company and ensure they have materials for their show week, I’ve embraced a quick turnaround approach. During the interval, I select standout images from my cameras, edit them using Lightroom for mobile, and share the highlights with the cast and crew in real-time. This way, they have access to professional-quality images for their promotional and personal use immediately after the show.
