Here comes the sun!
On May 9th, I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Brooklyn and Jack at Cupar Registry Office — a venue I know well, and just a short 15-minute drive from my home. As someone still fairly new to wedding photography, it was a real advantage to be working in a familiar location, allowing me to focus entirely on capturing the couple’s special moments.
Brooklyn and Jack didn’t require full-day coverage — just the key parts of the day: bridal preparations through to the ceremony and couple portraits afterwards. But even within that window, there were plenty of meaningful moments and joyful details to capture. From the anticipation of getting ready to the excitement of their “I do’s” and the love-filled portraits in the early afternoon light, it was a joy to document their day.
It turned out to be a stunning, sunny day — which, while gorgeous to look at, can sometimes be a challenge in terms of lighting for photography. Harsh direct sunlight creates contrast and strong shadows, but with careful positioning and a bit of creative thinking, I was able to work with the light to create warm, glowing images that the couple were truly delighted with.
For me, this wedding was more than just a job — it was an opportunity to grow my wedding photography portfolio, strengthen my eye for storytelling in natural light, and most importantly, deliver a gallery of images that Brooklyn and Jack will cherish for years to come.
