Oh I Wanna Dance With Somebody
I recently had the fantastic opportunity to work with The Dance Studio for the very first time, capturing both production photography and live performance video of their incredible showcase at the Lochgelly Centre. This was a vibrant, high-energy performance featuring more than 100 dancers and over 20 routines in each act — a true celebration of movement, music, and creativity.
My involvement began on the Friday night, photographing the dress rehearsal to document key moments, behind-the-scenes energy, and the detail of each performance number. Then on Saturday, I returned to film the entire experience of attending the show with a live audience, aiming to bottle the atmosphere and emotion of the evening in motion. The result was a dynamic visual story that the dancers, families, and teachers could relive again and again.
It was an absolute joy to get to know Laura, the head of The Dance Studio, along with her dedicated team and so many of the talented young performers. Laura discovered my work through Zodiac Dance, another fantastic company I’ve worked with, and I was genuinely honoured that she saw my style as a good fit for her vision.
We’re already talking about plans for next year’s 2026 show — including adding group portraits, a full multi-angle video recording, and even more visual content to showcase the dancers’ hard work and talent.
Although The Dance Studio is only the second dance school I’ve worked with, I’ve absolutely loved the experience. There’s something incredibly rewarding about capturing the focus, energy, and joy of young dancers doing what they love on stage. I hope to work with many more dance companies across Scotland in the future!
