Glasgow, Soul Sister and Somewhere Over the Rainbow
On the 17th of May, I was in Glasgow at the fantastic Broadscope Studios filming a brand-new showreel for talented musician, singer and friend Vicki Robertson. Vicki, who is currently launching a new website and pushing forward with her performing career, wanted professional video content to showcase her musical talent to casting directors and potential collaborators — and I was delighted to be asked to help bring that vision to life.
We were joined by her brother, Ali Robertson, who handled sound on the day — a brilliant setup that made for a smooth and creative session. The shoot took place in a visually stunning studio space featuring a large infinity cove (a seamless white backdrop, ideal for clean, cinematic visuals), exposed walls, industrial piping, and plenty of natural light. As a videographer, it was a dream location — versatile, atmospheric, and perfect for highlighting Vicki’s performance style.
Vicki performed three different songs, each chosen to show off a different facet of her voice and musical background. My goal was to keep the videos simple but powerful — letting her voice, expression, and artistry take centre stage, with beautiful lighting and smooth camera movement to enhance the viewing experience.
In the end, we created three high-quality performance videos that Vicki is now proudly displaying on her new website. They also serve as perfect material for sending to casting directors, especially for roles requiring actor-musicians — a growing niche in both stage and screen.
