Annual Awards Evening Photography in Dunfermline
On the 21st of November 2025, I was delighted to once again work with Zodiac Dance, a company I regularly collaborate with, to capture their Annual Dance Awards Evening at the new Learning Campus in Dunfermline. It’s always a pleasure being asked back by returning clients, and this event was no exception.
Capturing the Full Story of the Evening
I spent around four hours photographing the event, making sure to document every aspect of the evening - from guest arrivals and the buzz on the dancefloor, to award presentations, speeches, and all the emotional moments in between.
My aim with events like this is always to tell the complete story. That means not just focusing on the awards themselves, but also capturing the quieter, more personal moments - proud parents, emotional reactions, and special interactions between mums, dads, daughters and sons as awards were announced. These are often the images that mean the most and are shared the most afterwards.
A Challenging but Rewarding Space
The venue itself was impressive but challenging. The room was huge - almost cavernous - and very dark, which meant I relied heavily on flash photography throughout the evening. Using flash in a live event environment always requires a careful balance: working quickly, staying unobtrusive, and still capturing natural expressions and reactions.
On top of that, pyrotechnics were used during some of the major award moments, which added another layer of complexity. I found myself moving rapidly around the space to make sure nothing was missed and that each key moment was captured from the best possible angle.
Images Made to Be Shared
The end goal for Zodiac Dance was a large, varied gallery of images that dancers and families could proudly share on social media, while also providing Zodiac with high-quality promotional imagery for future marketing. I’m pleased to say the feedback has been fantastic - and it’s always a joy seeing the images pop up online in the days following the event.
Despite the challenges, it was a brilliant evening to be part of, and I’m grateful to Zodiac Dance for continuing to trust me with such important moments in their calendar.
