On Friday the 19th of September, I had the pleasure of working with Amy Rodger for a professional headshot session at Limelight studio in Dunfermline. Amy booked my Bronze Headshot Package, which includes a one-hour session with up to three wardrobe and backdrop changes, and three fully edited, high-resolution digital images delivered in both colour and black & white.
A Comfortable, Creative Space
The Dunfermline studio is ideal for headshot sessions - it has its own car park, great transport links, and is close to both the bus and train stations, making it really convenient for clients travelling in from across Fife or beyond.
Amy admitted she was a little nervous before the shoot began - something that’s completely normal, but it didn’t take long for us to break the ice. We discovered a shared love of musical theatre, and before long, we had Frozen playing in the background (complete with a little singalong or two!). That relaxed, friendly atmosphere helped Amy’s personality shine through, which is exactly what great headshots are all about.
Capturing Personality and Range
Throughout the session, we worked on a variety of looks - from confident, professional portraits to more natural, expressive shots that showcased different sides of Amy’s personality and castability. It’s so important that an actor’s headshots feel authentic and show a range of emotion and character types.
Over the course of the hour, I took around 600 images, which I then narrowed down to about 75–80 lightly edited previews. These were uploaded to a password-protected online gallery, where Amy could view them in her own time and select her favourite three. I then gave those chosen images a full professional edit before delivering the final results within a month of the session.
A Happy Client and Great Feedback
Amy was absolutely delighted with how her headshots turned out. She told me that as soon as we got into the studio, her nerves completely disappeared, and that she had a great time chatting about roles she’d love to play. She also said she “couldn’t recommend me enough,” describing the experience as fun, friendly, and professional - exactly the balance I aim for in every shoot.
Working with clients like Amy reminds me just how rewarding headshot photography can be - it’s about more than just taking a nice photo; it’s about helping someone feel confident and seen.
