On Wednesday 16th July, I had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Elissa Grace for her headshot photography session at Limelight Studio in Dunfermline. Elissa is a talented actor, who has appeared multiple times in the hit TV series Outlander, and she was looking for updated professional headshots to continue her acting career.
From the moment she first reached out to me, I could tell Elissa knew exactly what she wanted from her session - which is always a great starting point. As with every client, my goal was to capture headshots that didn’t just look great but truly represented her personality, versatility, and casting potential.
Preparing for the Perfect Headshot Session
We started with a pre-session consultation to discuss her goals, casting range, and the type of roles she wanted to target. We also discussed her clothing choices, backdrop options and the other details of the session. This meant that by the time Elissa arrived on the day, she felt comfortable, confident, and prepared — which is half the battle when stepping in front of the camera (because let’s be honest, it’s rarely anyone’s favourite thing!).
Bringing Out Natural Expression & Emotion
During the shoot, I used a mix of lighthearted conversation getting to know Elissa and acting scenarios to help her relax and bring out different emotions. This variety is key for actors - it means their portfolio shows the full range of what they can portray, from approachable warmth to intense drama.
I was delighted to hear that Elissa had been recommended to me by a friend. Word-of-mouth referrals mean so much in this industry, and it’s always rewarding to know my work is making an impact.
The Final Touches
After a few careful refinements to her favourite shots, we created a set of professional, industry-ready actor headshots that she was thrilled with. Elissa even left me a wonderful review afterwards, which honestly made my day.
Thank you, Elissa - it was a joy working with you, and I can’t wait for the next session!
Why Professional Actor Headshots Matter
If you’re an actor, your headshot is often your first introduction to casting directors and agents. A great headshot should be authentic, versatile, and true to who you are as a performer. At the Dunfermline studio, I create a relaxed and collaborative environment to bring out your best self in every frame.
